IMPORTANT: New file formats have been introduced in Office 2007 using Open XML. Documents created in Office 2007 will have extensions of .docx (Word), .xlsx (Excel), or .pptx (PowerPoint).
Office 2003 cannot open documents created with Office 2007. In order to ensure that users can share files across versions, Office 2003 users must install a compatibility pack in order to open, read, and make modifications to documents created with Office 2007. The compatibility pack is available from the Microsoft Download website. Please note that you must install all the latest Service Packs and security updates before installing the compatibility pack.
Office 2007 users can open and modify files created in Office 2003. To save files in Office 2003 format, click the Office button, select 'Save As,' and choose '...97-2003 Document.'
MS Office Now Available!
Students may come to the Help Desk to have MS Office installed on their personally-owned machines or purchase their own CD for $10 (payable at the One Stop Center). The student is required to sign a "Student Users Acceptance Form". Limited to 1 install CD per person; limited quantities of CD's are available.
