Laptop Return Time - All Laptop Recall 2014

Who:  All students except those registered for summer, and all adjunct faculty members who are not teaching summer courses must return laptops.

Due Date:  Final Exam Week for Students 5/6 to 5/9 (Last day for adjunct faculty 5/15).

Who May Keep Laptops Over Summer 2014:  Full-time faculty & staff, Adjuncts teaching summer 2014 courses, and students taking summer 2014 courses.

NEW Fall 2014 LTuZone Equipment – a total hardware refresh!

All eligible students for the LTuZone laptop/tablet program will be receiving new hardware for Fall 2014.  Distribution and exchange dates to be posted at a later date. 


Summer 2014 Laptop Distribution

5/8/2014 3:00pm to 7:00pm Faculty and Student O&R
5/14/2014 11:00am to 6:00pm First day of class


Regular LTuZone Distribution Hours

Mondays 1:00 - 4:30  Distribution
Tuesdays 1:00 - 4:30
Wednesdays 1:00 - 4:30
Thursdays 1:00 - 4:30
Friday No distributions

If you are not able to come to the Help Desk during regular scheduled distribution hours you may contact the us for an appointment at helpdesk@ltu.edu or 248.204.2330.


LTuZone Distribution Policy

  • We can not distribute any LTuZone hardware or software to anyone other than the person to whom it is assigned.
  • Parents, relatives, or friends may not pick up LTuZone hardware or software for a Lawrence Tech student or faculty or staff member.
  • Students, faculty and staff must pick up their LTuZone hardware and software in person.
  • There are no exceptions to this policy.

Distribution Procedures

Faculty or Staff LTuZone Distribution

Before a any faculty or staff receives any LTuZone hardware or software, they must have:

  • A Laptop Authorization form signed by the appropriate personnel from their department
  • A signed Faculty Laptop Agreement for the current year.

Student LTuZone Distribution

Before a student receives any LTuZone hardware or software, they must:

  • Register for classes for the current term.
  • Pay the $500 security deposit.
  • Have a Lawrence Tech photo ID card.
  • Sign the laptop agreement which is online in BannerWeb

The One Stop Service Center, room C304 in Taubman Student Services Building processes the payment of the LTuZone security deposit and provides Lawrence Tech Photo IDs.

LTuZone Returns

Please back up your data prior to returning!

Upon semester completion, complete withdrawal, graduation from LTU, notification by LTU, or premature departure from the University (whether by dismissal, involuntary withdrawal, or other occurrence) all LTuZone hardware must be returned within 5 business days to the Help Desk.

If you have final exams after the return deadline, you may request exception to be your return of one business day following your last exam without any penalty. Please contact helpdesk@ltu.edu for details.

A late fee of $20 per business day will be charged if the LTuZone hardware and software is returned after 5 business days from the date of departure from Lawrence Tech. Users will also be charged for any accessories not returned.

Please use the following guidelines for returning:

  • Return all LTuZone hardware to the Help Desk in room C203 in the Taubman Building,
  • in its original condition, less reasonable wear,
  • the keyboard, screen, etc. must be clean,
  • remove personal files from your laptop prior to returning it to the Help Desk. Files may burned to a CD or other external media,
  • remove any disks from the disk drive.

Laptop Agreements

Faculty and Staff information

Before picking up a laptop, faculty must provide a fully executed Laptop Authorization form signed by the appropriate personnel from their department and a signed Faculty Laptop Agreement. These forms are available below.

Student information

Before a student receives a laptop, they must:

  • Register for classes for the current term.
  • Pay a $500 security deposit, payable by check or credit card.
  • Have a Lawrence Tech photo ID card.
  • Sign the laptop agreement which is online in BannerWeb

The One Stop Service Center, room C304 in Taubman Student Services Building processes the payment of the laptop security deposit and provides Lawrence Tech Photo IDs.


What if my LTuZone Hardware is Stolen?

Step 1 - File a Police Report

Each person reporting a theft or missing and presumed stolen LTuZone hardware must file a police report within three business days in the jurisdiction in which the hardware is alleged to have been lost or stolen.

The police report must include the hardware's:

  • make
  • model number
  • manufacturer’s serial number

Step 2 - Submit the Police Report to LTU

It is the responsibility of the user/victim to provide a copy of the police report to LTU Business Services in the One-Stop Center.  LTU will not obtain copies of the police reports filed by users/victims.

LTU Business Services will forward copies of the filed police reports to the Help Desk and Campus Safety.

Step 3 - Meet with Campus Security Director

Any person reporting that their LTuZone hardware was stolen must meet with the Director of Campus Safety and Security to discuss the details of the incident as reported to the police.

LTuZone hardware replacements may not be obtained until this meeting has taken place.

Step 4 - Obtain Replacement Hardware

  • The $500 security deposit on account will be retained by the University when any LTuZone hardware is reported stolen and all steps above are followed. 
  • If no police report is filed, the full cost of the LTuZone hardware, currently $3000.00, will be charged to the account.
  • To obtain LTuZone replacement hardware, a $500 security deposit must be on account, and can paid at the One-Stop Center.
