Google Apps Email Service for Lawrence Tech University
Lawrence Tech University is moving its email service from CommuniGate Pro to Google Apps. Google Apps provides email, calendaring, and collaboration services for Educational Institutions. It includes:
- Access to email from any Internet connection
- 7GB of Google App storage and growing
- Multiple calendars that are easy to create and share
- Advanced Google search technology
- Web based text chat within email window
- Client based video chat
- Improved spam blocking
- Document storage and sharing with others

Google Apps accounts are transitioning to a new infrastructure. This change is being made so LTU Google Apps accounts can start accessing dozens of Google services beyond the core suite of messaging and collaboration apps. This change will let LTU users access many new services such as Blogger, Reader, Picasa Web Albums, AdWords and iGoogle from their Google Apps accounts. Previously, these Google products were available only in personal Google Accounts. You can see a list of all the Google products that will soon be available to you using your LTU.edu account.
In addition to new products, you will also be able to sign into your LTU Google Apps accounts from any Google sign in page. For example, you can go to http://calendar.google.com and enter your full Google Apps email address, YourEmailAddress@ltu.edu, to sign in to your Google Apps account and view your calendar.
We will be rolling out this change in phases to our LTU community beginning with staff.
Tentative Schedule:
Thu, Apr 21st: transition all staff
Tue, Apr 26th: transition all faculty
Mon, May 2nd: transition remaining users (students)
