UNIT 6 -OBJECTIVE 3 - PROPERTIES OF LOGARITHM

We can write logarithms as exponential so the properties of logarithms
are related to the rules of exponents.

		Logarithm Properties-
If x and y are positive numbers, b>0 and b is not equal to one:

		Example

		Example

		Example

We can use these properties to condense an expression involving several log terms into a single log term.

		Example2
Write each of the following as a single logarithm:

These properties can also be used to solve equations involving only log terms.

		Example3
		Solve for t:

(The left side is already a single log term so we need to condense
the right side to a single log term.)

		So t=200

		So
