Reminder – Summer Laptop Distribution is coming up
Summer distribution will take place at the Help Desk, C203 Taubman Student Services Building on:
May 14 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm
May 15 11:00 am - 4:30 pm
Before you can pick up a laptop you must:
1. Register for classes (Summer 2008)
2. Pay a $500 refundable security deposit (payable at the One Stop Service Center)
3. Sign the Laptop Agreement online in BannerWeb
4. Have a LTU photo ID
When signing your laptop agreement, please be sure to read it carefully, fully understanding the terms and conditions prior to electronically signing.

New Anti-Virus Software Rollout, Update Nov. 15, 2007
To continue our communication efforts with our end users, IT Services will begin its rollout of our new anti-virus/anti-spyware application, Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), beginning Monday, November 12, 2007 and continuing throughout the month of November. The rollout will occur in phases and by various means.
All end users may chose to install SEP on their own. Detailed instructions for installation can be found at:

To the best of our ability we will “push” the software out to your laptop or desktop computer. At that time, you will see some error messages from your current anti-virus software, Sophos. You will need to uninstall Sophos at that time. Detailed instructions for removal of Sophos are also provided at:

You may also visit the help desk with your laptop computer for personalized service from our Help Desk technicians. You should allow at least 15 minutes for the process from beginning to end. Desktop users will be visited by our staff in person, if the install has not been handled by the user.
Please note: All LTU owned and leased computers are required to have installed on them our new anti-virus product, SEP. Upon installation, users are not authorized to uninstall or alter the product in any way.
If you attempt installation of SEP on your own, you must be the administrator of the machine. Instructions for making yourself an administrator, "Restoring Administrator Rights on LTU Laptops," can be found on this page below this notice. If you need assistance, Help Desk personnel will be available during our regular hours to assist you.
Help Desk hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
