Forensic Summer Science Institute
9 a.m.–4 p.m., $600 day camp/$765 residential
For highly motivated sophomores and juniors proficient in biology, chemistry, and physics. Cost includes a $200 nonrefundable registration fee. You will be given a crime scenario, which you’ll solve using state-of-the art lab equipment to explore DNA fingerprinting, drug testing, hair and fiber analysis, ballistics, gunshot-residue testing, and blood spatter analysis. Machining and Fabricating
9 a.m.–4 p.m., $700 day camp/$800 residential
Two-week-long camp: June 20-24 and July 11-15
Master the skills required to machine and fabricate in a manufacturing environment similar to those you’d find in the automotive, medical, or aerospace industries. After you learn shop, personal, and equipment safety, you’ll interpret blueprints, read precision gauges, and craft components from various types of material. You’ll also be exposed to the electrical side of manufacturing and learn electrical safety, circuit basics, and create a project using electrical soldering. You’ll also operate CNC equipment and experiment with G-Code.

Want to explore the human mind, see how the brain works, and learn about the secrets of our behavior? In this camp you’ll conduct experiments in human perception, memory, consciousness, language, and social behavior using current research techniques and high-tech devices. You’ll learn about behavioral conditioning by training real animals to perform specific actions in controlled experimental situations. You’ll also be introduced to the main techniques for treating psychological problems so that you can play the role of a clinical psychologist.

Sketching for Architecture and Design*
9 a.m.–5 p.m., $650 day camp/$800 residential
Designed to prepare you for beginning architecture and design courses, including industrial and transportation design, this camp focuses on developing your drawing skills in charcoal, graphite, roller ball, and marker. You’ll observe and draw the objects around you, our built environment, and images from photographs. Things are much easier to understand once you learn to draw them! You’ll also visit the Detroit Institute of Arts for an in-depth sketching session. This camp offers you a great opportunity to create or expand your portfolio.

Web Design*
9 a.m.–5 p.m., $650 day camp/$800 residential
Do you want to build your own website? Ever wonder what’s going on behind your Internet browser? Learn how to create HTML webpages with customized graphics and dynamic animations in Adobe Dreamweaver. You’ll design animated menus, rollovers, image galleries, and much more. Prior experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is preferred.
