Families With Children
Graduation is a time for everyone to celebrate, including our littlest family members!
Tickets: ALL children, including infants, require a ticket to the ceremony. This allows parents to have room for diaper bags, and young children a place of their own to enjoy the ceremony or play quietly.
Strollers: Strollers of any kind are NOT ALLOWED into the ceremony field. If you feel it absolutely necessary to bring one for transportation between your car and the arena you will be required to leave it at our designated "Stroller Parking" upon entering the building. Strollers will be held in this area for the duration of the ceremony and families may pick them up when the ceremony has completely ended (after graduates, the stage party, and faculty have all exited the ceremony field).
During the Ceremony: In order to respect the formal nature of Commencement and the other guests in attendance, we ask that you take your child to the lobby if they become restless. There is plenty of room in the center field off the lobby (Field 2) for children to run and play while parents can still listen to the ceremony. Please note: No one, including parents and children, will be allowed in the turf area next to or behind the stage in the ceremony field. Anyone in these areas will be escorted out of the field and into the lobby for the rest of the ceremony.
Special Needs Graduates and Guests
If you are a graduate with special needs, email graduation@ltu.edu to make accommodations no later then April 15th.
Handicap parking will be available in both parking lots (Premium lot and the General/Shuttle lot). Premium parking passes will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. We encourage graduates who need handicap parking for themselves or their guests, to pick up their tickets on the first day of distribution.
Chairs or wheelchair space may be reserved for guests with special needs. There are three ways to reserve special seating for guests: fill out the appropriate section of the Commencement RSVP & Ticket Order Form; email graduation@ltu.edu ; or call Enrollment Services at 248.204.2280.
Families with restless young children are welcome to go to the arena’s lobby, where a live feed of the ceremony will be available for viewing.
An American Sign Language interpreter will be present at the ceremony and positioned on the right-hand side of the stage.
