Co-Op Student Checklist

 

Pre-Placement

  • Submit Co-op Application and forward resume to Career Services
  • Attend a mandatory Co-op Orientation .
  • Resubmit corrected resume if requested.
  • Final interview with Career Services to discuss final resume and co-op options.
  • To improve your interviewing skills, Career Services provide Mock Interviewing sessions and related resources for you to consider before attending your first interview.  Contact Career Services or stop by the office to schedule an appointment.
  • Read your e-mail and listen to your phone messages from Career Services diligently and respond immediately for any co-op opportunities or career-related events.
  • An email confirmation will be sent to you immediately after your resume has been submitted to prospective companies for co-op opportunities. Visit the websites to learn more about prospective companies.  If interested, a representative from the company/organization or Career Services to arrange interviews.
  • Prepare to present yourself with professionalism.  Contact Career Services or stop by the office to learn the Do’s and Don’ts of Interview Dress for men and women.
  • Contact Career Services or stop by the office if you have any questions about the job description or having problems with gathering information about prospective companies.
  • Send a Thank You letter or card to express appreciation for taking the time to meet and speak with a company representative.  It is suggested to send a letter or card as soon as you leave the interview.
  • Contact Career Services or stop by the office if you are extended an offer.
  • Make sure that you understand all co-op policies as detailed in the Co-op Student Guidelines.

 

 Post Placement
  • Register for the following courses once you have accepted a position:
  • Co-op Practicum I:    ECO 3001 for ME, EE, CE
                                       TCO 3001 for ET, TM 
                                       MCS 3001 for Math,
                                       Math/CS, CS, IT 
                                      
  • Co-op Practicum II:   ECO 3101 for ME, EE, CE 
                                       TCO 3101 for ET, TM 
                                       MCS 3101 for Math,
                                       Math/CS, CS, IT 
                                       
     
  • Co-op Practicum III:  ECO 4001 for ME, EE, CE
                                       TCO 4001 for ET, TM 
                                       MCS 4001 for Math,
                                       Math/CS, CS, IT 
                                       
  • Attend the mandatory co-op class that is held the first and second Thursday of every semester.  You will be notified of class arrangements.
