Pancakes, Rain and a Campfire
by Denise Janus

Today we all got up at 6 a.m. and Pat, one of the re-enactors, started a campfire out front and cooked us pancakes and sausage.  We put back in across from the Clamdigger and canoed about 9 miles.  Today was a short canoeing day on Lake Erie because rain threatened in the distance. We took out early at Otter Creek Marina and played cards behind the marina’s offices until Mr. Means came back with the vehicle.  We drove to Sterling State Park where we set up camp in the rain, AGAIN.  So far, every time we've set up camp it's been in the rain.  Eventually the rain stopped and the sun came out.  We started a fire and roasted hot dogs and cooked beans.  We sat around the fire a while, and went to bed around midnight.
