Hurrah! We're in PA
by Denise Janus

Today’s weather was much more calm, so we finally completed our 17.5 miles to Raccoon Creek.  Today we actually paddled a few miles into Pennsylvania. We’re finally in our last state!  The shoreline scenery has changed dramatically from that of lakefront homes, to one of gorgeous cliffs and pristine forests. The water is equally as beautiful; today it was a tropical aqua color set against a clear blue sky!

We paused for lunch on a beach that we had all to ourselves. We took a nice nap in the sand, before getting back on our way. While the others napped I sneaked-in a swim. The water is about 68 degrees and feels fantastic!  We got off the water at about 5 p.m. and headed back to Jack’s Marina to pack up camp and head to the Bayfront Center for Maritime Studies www.bayfrontcenter.org in Erie, Pennsylvania. We wanted to move tonight instead of tomorrow morning before we paddle. Again a big thank you to Ron, John and Mrs. Phelps for letting us stay so long at their campground at Jack’s Marina!  And to all of the campers there for being so nice and hospitable to us! (Including the puppy dogs Feta, Paizon, and Lilly!)
