Ashtabula Hospitality
by Denise Janus

We woke to rain this morning, so canoeing was out of the question. The VHF radio said winds would be 10 to 20 knots today on the lake, with waves 3 to 5 feet. That makes today another rest day. We went to the movies at the local mall and then went back to camp at Jack’s Marina to make spaghetti.

Last night Mr. Bob Frisbie gave us a tour of the Great Lakes Marine & Coast Guard Memorial Museum.  We learned A LOT of cool history and information about the Ashtabula Harbor, freighters, and life on a freighter or ship.  Then Mr. Frisbie and his wife, Anne, took us out to dinner at the Crow’s Nest. We can’t thank them enough for their hospitality while we were in Ashtabula!  We made another presentation today at 7 p.m. at the museum, and the audience was fantastic with lots of great questions and stories of their own!
