grad-cert-sustainability2.jpgLawrence Tech is committed to sustainability leadership in its educational programs, faculty research, and student projects. The campus itself serves as a living laboratory of sustainability. The LEED Silver-certified A. Alfred Taubman Student Services Center is heated and cooled by a field of geothermal wells beneath the University quadrangle, which is ringed by a bioswale and rain gardens to form an elaborate stormwater filtering and retention system. Lawrence Tech students routinely win national and international awards for sustainability related projects, and Lawrence Tech faculty conduct research in such areas as sustainable urban design, stormwater management, and advanced materials.

Lawrence Tech’s closely aligned Colleges of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Management create an environment in which students can experience and study sustainability in a variety of subject areas – a level of interdisciplinary collaboration unique to Lawrence Tech. Supported by the University’s Center for Sustainability, Lawrence Tech’s faculty oversee student projects in alternative energy, sustainable urbanism, green construction, zero energy dwellings, stormwater management, green chemistry, environmental preservation, and sustainable business practices used to drive innovation and transformation.
