The Master of Educational Technology (MET) is a practice-oriented program consisting of 30 credit hours and has a few tracks: educational/instructional technology, robotics and performance improvement tracks.
Depending on the emphasis of their studies, candidates in the program will:
• Use computer skills to enhance the instructional process
• Apply emerging electronic technologies to the creation of educational media
• Participate intelligently in the decision-making process when educational technology applications are being adopted
• Train others in the design of electronic documents and WebPages and the use of multimedia
Candidates can benefit greatly from the partnership between Lawrence Tech, a university known for its established technological curriculum and expertise with high-tech tools, and Marygrove College, which has extensive experience in teacher education and certification. Furthermore, the Master of Educational Technology program is one of only a few such programs offered in the metropolitan Detroit area. It is also approved by the State of Michigan to provide teachers the training required for the NP (educational technology) endorsement on their teaching certificates. Teachers who complete seven core courses of the Master of Educational Technology degree are not only eligible for NP endorsement (contact teachcertificate@ltu.edu if you have questions), but also have earned more than half the credits they need to earn the degree. The program is self-paced and completely on-line and asynchronous.
• A non-need-based scholarship of $1,218.00 per 3-credit hour course for all course work.
• Up to nine credits of appropriate graduate work can be transferred per director approval.
• For students interested in robotics, the course sequence in Autonomous Robotics for Education 1 and 2 constitutes a Robotics Concentration. Graduate Certificates can also be earned for 12-credit programs in Educational Technology and Robotics for Education.
