Advances in technology have revolutionized the classroom and continue to change the way teachers instruct their students. Computers in the classroom, electronic communication, Web-based learning tools, streaming video, hundreds of software choices, and a limitless combination of hardware systems—teachers and school administrators need to keep up-to-date and understand their options. To meet this demand, Lawrence Technological University, the region’s leader in technology-based education, has partnered with Marygrove College, a center of excellence in teacher preparation, to offer a Master of Educational Technology degree.

The Master of Educational Technology (MET) is a practice-oriented program consisting of 30 credit hours and two tracks: educational technology and business tracks.
Depending on the emphasis
of their studies, students in the program will:

• Use computer skills to enhance the teaching process
• Apply emerging electronic technologies to the creation of educational media
• Participate intelligently in the decision-making process when educational technology applications are being adopted
• Train others in the design of electronic documents and WebPages and the use of multimedia

Why Lawrence Tech’s Master of Educational Technology Program (MET)?

Students can benefit greatly from the partnership between Lawrence Tech, a university known for its established technological curriculum and expertise with high-tech tools, and Marygrove College, which has extensive experience in teacher education and certification. Furthermore, the Master of Educational Technology program is one of only a few such programs offered in the metropolitan Detroit area. It is also approved by the State of Michigan to provide teachers the training required for the NP (educational technology) endorsement on their teaching certificates. Teachers who complete the six core courses of the Master of Educational Technology degree are not only eligible for NP endorsement, but also have earned more than half the credits they need to earn the degree.  Program is self-paced and mostly on-line.

Other advantages include:

• Conveniently scheduled courses. Some classes meet once a week with the rest taking place online. Others are online with a few face-to-face meetings at the beginning and end of the course.
• A non-need-based scholarship of $708 per course.
• Six credits of appropriate graduate work can be transferred from another institution.
• For students interested in robotics , the course sequence in Autonomous Robotics for Education 1 and 2 constitutes a Robotics Concentration. Graduate Certificates can also be earned for 12-credit programs in Educational Technology and Robotics for Education.
