Prof. Bauer joined the Lawrence Tech mathematics faculty in 1982 after earning his graduate and undergraduate degrees in mathematics at Wayne State University.  Subject areas taught include the engineering calculus sequence, differential equations, probability and statistics, and various others.  He served as coordinator for the Calculus 1 Workshop program from its launch in Spring 1997 until Fall 2003, participating in the program’s design and overseeing its later development to include the use of mathematical software.

Prof. Bauer was appointed associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences in 1998.  Recruitment and retention programs, student advising, curriculum development, course evaluation and assessment, academic policies, catalog and web content management, new student orientation and registration, placement assessments, facility upgrades, strategic planning, committee assignments, and day-to-day administrivia somehow manage to fill the hours once spent in the classroom.

Prof. Bauer serves as faculty advisor to LTU Cru, is a group leader for an evening Bible Study Fellowship class, and participates in children's ministry and various other programs at his church.  He is also a teaching associate for Test Preparation Services, Inc., an affiliation that began in 1981.  Happily married since 1977 and proud father of three sons and two daughters-in-law, his personal interests include Bible study and Christian apologetics, Christian educational ministries, and family camping.
