Dr. Girard teaches World Masterpieces I and II, Literature and Science, Contemporary Literature, Modern Literature, Novel to Film, and Science Fiction.  Her dissertation subject is Roles of Women in Science Fiction, from Novel to Visual Media. She has a strong interest in Women Studies, Science Fiction, Fantasy, most sciences and sports of all kinds.

Dr. Girard achieved her Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. from Wayne State University in English, with a concentration in Science.  Her Master's Essay and Dissertation focused on Science Fiction.  She taught for fifteen years at Wayne State University in Composition, Literature and Women's Studies.  Besides teaching for five years at LTU, she has also taught at Oakland University, U-D Mercy, Central Michigan University and the Medical College of Ohio, as well as, substitute teaching in the Birmingham, MI school district.

As far as publications are concerned, Dr.Girard has a chapter in the 1998 book Short Stories for Students, by Gale Research, on Arthur C. Clarke and his short story "Star."  She has also written thirty entries for Master Plots. Currently, she is working on a revision to her dissertation for publication in book form.

She has also presented a paper at the Graduate Student Conference at the University of Miami-Ohio in 1996 and at the North American Popular Culture Conference in March 2002 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Girard was nominated and selected to be in Marquis Who's Who in America, published in fall of 2004.  She's also been selected to be in Who's Who in American Women, to be published in fall of 2005 and the Silver Anniversary edition of Who's Who in America.
