Dr. Rann teaches Japanese History and Literature.  He is interested in research pertaining to Michigan Copper Country history and mineralogy.  His Ph.D. is from the University of Michigan and he is also an instructor at Madonna University.  His publications include:   Japanese Studies Across the Curriculum (1992) and Recollections - Life in the Keweenaw (2005).

Dr. Rann is also the recipient of the Fulbright-Hays, Japan Foundation, and National Endowment for the Humanities Distinguished Teaching Professor Awards.
