Cultural Diversity and Altruism

The Lawrence Technological University Diversity Seminar Series program accesses both organizational and community resources to present programs that recognize the diversity of all its learners, constituencies, and the greater society it serves.  Presented by Huntington Bank and Plunkett & Cooney, and in partnership with the Detroit Holocaust Memorial Center’s International Institute of the Righteous.

ONE: the movie
In this documentary film, Michigan attorney Ward Powers, moved by the events of 9/11, poses twenty questions to prominent religious leaders about the nature of human existence.  Mr. Powers will lead a discussion about the film afterwards.

Only one country in the world has the distinction of willfully saving its Jewish Population from the Nazi Holocaust.  How and why did Denmark accomplish that?  Professor Corinne Stavish, a professional storyteller, will tell this unique story of a remarkable country on the 63rd anniversary of the event.

Lost Boys of Sudan
Prof. Tom Luster, Dept. of Child and Family Ecology, Michigan State University, Founderof Michigan project to resettle the Lost Boys of Sudan discusses the origin and nature of this project. “Lost Boy” Sisimayo Faki Henry speaks about his experiences in Sudan and in America.
