Multiple Sclerosis Society

For Honors University Seminar, we decided to raise money for and volunteer our time to the Multiple Sclerosis Society near campus. To raise money, we collected cans around campus and housing and held a successful bake sale.  These fundraising efforts brought in just over $300 for the MS Society.  To volunteer our time, we helped out with various organizational tasks for which the society was grateful for our assistance.  It was a great volunteering opportunity for everyone to get involved.

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at the nearby Detroit Children’s Hospital.  These families spend most of this stressful time at the hospital visiting their children, leaving no time to grocery shop and cook.  On multiple occasions, the LTU Honor Society has prepared a delicious home cooked meal for these people who always express their appreciation for our efforts.

Master Harold and the Boys

The World Masterpieces II Honors class in Spring 2007 put on a production of Master Harold and the Boys for the student body.  This event was so well received that it was followed by the creation of the LTU Society of Dramatic Arts (SODA), an organization which now puts on a different play every semester.
