About the Walker L. Cisler Memorial Lecture Series
Lawrence Tech's annual series, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, honors the memory of Detroit industrialist Walker L. Cisler, an international ambassador for the American electric utility industry who worked closely with presidents, prime ministers, and kings, and who, as a tireless and dedicated humanitarian, worked to bring the comfort and convenience of electricity to millions around the world.
"Science, engineering, technology, and, accordingly, the country, cannot prosper until we once again produce a truly scientifically literate populace," said Cisler. His career, including his years of leadership at the Detroit Edison Company from 1954 to 1971, spanned a broad range of personal, professional, civic, and business accomplishments that won him recognition and respect from Michigan to the far corners of the world. His special passion was for excellence in science and engineering education.
The Cisler lecture series, which is free and open to the public, was founded with a generous gift from the Holley Foundation.
