Doug Skidmore is a College Professor of Architecture at Lawrence Tech where he teaches Architecture graduate design studio, Architectural Engineering design studio, and coordinates the Integrated Design 3 (junior year) undergraduate studios. His research focuses on aesthetically derived architectural technology and the design process as it relates to architectural realization at the scale of studio practice. Doug is a licensed architect in Washington state. He is co-founder of Beebe Skidmore Architects, an AIA-award winning studio based in Portland,Oregon and Detroit. His current professional work includes residential, mixed-use commercial, park and master planning projects. Prior to forming his own practice, Doug was as senior associate architect at Allied Works Architecture, responsible as project architect and designer for numerous high-performance spaces for the visual arts. He holds a Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts.
