Educational Outreach
The University has forged partnerships and initiatives to engage young people in exploring engineering and technology, sparking their interest in science, preparing them for college, and easing their transition to higher learning:

University High School, launched in partnership with Michigan Future, Inc., and Ferndale Public Schools, prepares high school students for changing industry needs and professional opportunities

Summer workshops for high school students, including the Summer Science Institute and Summer Technology Camps, that are aligned with the MEDC 21st Century Jobs Fund and Oakland County Emerging Sectors focus areas

Robofest, an annual international robotic competition for grades 5 to 12

One of 20 schools from Canada, Europe, and the United States and the only Michigan university to compete in the 2007 Solar Decathlon, Lawrence Tech has assembled an interdisciplinary team of students from every college to contribute to this project. The team is designing and building a highly energyefficient, completely solar-powered house that will be assembled and displayed on the Mall in Washington, D.C.
