Do you work irregular hours? Need to travel at unpredictable times? Juggle a demanding job and a busy family life, but still want to pursue your education and advance your career? Lawrence Technological University's LTU Online can provide the solution for busy professionals like you. Whether your work schedule prevents you from taking more than one on-campus class in a given semester, or the unpredictable time and travel demands of your job make it difficult to schedule traditional on-the-ground classes, LTU Online can help you overcome these challenges and give you the quality of a Lawrence Tech education wherever you are.

How Are LTU Online Courses Delivered?
LTU Online courses are delivered in 100 percent asynchronous mode, using Blackboard™, multimedia tools, and digital resources available from the Lawrence Tech library. Students are not required to be online at the same time to participate in an asynchronous class. This means that you can complete your coursework at times that are convenient for you and that accommodate your work schedule. All LTU Online classes are organized into schedules that include the learning and assessment activities to be completed each week. In addition to accessing course information via Blackboard™, you will also be able to communicate with your instructor and with your fellow students using discussion forums, email, instant messaging, telephone conferencing, web conferencing, and, in some cases, video conferencing.

Are Online Courses Equivalent to Traditional Courses?
LTU Online courses are rigorously designed to be a learning experience equivalent to traditional on-the-ground courses. The educational objectives for LTU Online courses are the same as for traditional courses, and you can have confidence that courses in either format will support your progress toward a degree or certificate. The credit earned for online courses is the same as for traditional or hybrid courses. LTU Online instructors are faculty members who have been selected for their academic knowledge, industry experience, and commitment to quality online education. All LTU Online instructors are knowledgeable about the use of technology in education and are committed to providing you with an outstanding online learning experience.

Are Online Courses Right for You?
Online learning is quite different from learning in a traditional classroom setting. Online courses require you to make adjustments in how you collaborate with faculty and student colleagues, complete assignments and tests, and, most importantly, study and learn. The ultimate goal remains the same – to maximize your learning experience in a manner that satisfies your educational needs. To be successful as an online student, you must possess strong time management and organizational skills, enjoy learning independently as well as with others, be comfortable working with technology, and communicate effectively in writing. See the LTU Online for more information about achieving success in online courses.

What Personal Technologies Do I Need to Take LTU Online Courses?
To take advantage of the multimedia components of LTU Online courses you must have your own desktop or laptop computer and a broadband Internet connection. (Note that some corporate firewalls will prevent you from accessing Blackboard™ or multimedia learning resources.) You will need to install either Microsoft Office or Open Office for use in the development of reports, spreadsheets, and presentation materials. All other software needed for participation in LTU Online courses will be noted in individual course syllabi.
