Did you know that you can while still in high school? You can—and it’s easier than you think! Lawrence Technological University’s Dual Enrollment Program gives you the opportunity to earn college credits at the times that work for you!
If you’re doing well in your current classes and have the skills and abilities to take college-level courses, dual enrollment can move your college career forward while you are still in high school. In the Dual Enrollment Program, you are admitted to Lawrence Tech under special status, and you have all the privileges regular students enjoy, including use of the library and recreational facilities and the opportunity to purchase student tickets to cultural and athletic events. Once you graduate from high school, you can apply to a degree program at Lawrence Tech, provided you meet the minimum admission criteria, with the credits you’ve already earned.
Forensic Science
Designed for serious biology, chemistry, and physics high school students, Lawrence Tech’s Forensic Science course offers you the opportunity to study with outstanding university professors and top students from other high schools. You’ll use state-of-the-art equipment in modern labs and explore:

DNA fingerprinting

Drug testing

Hair and fiber analysis

Ballistics and testing for gunshot residue

Blood detection using fluorescence analysis

Thin Layer Chromatography to separate and identify drugs and other compounds

Infrared Analysis and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance to analyze trace evidence gathered from the scene of suspected arson

Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry to identify components in a mixture of volatile compounds, such as gasoline and paint thinner

High Pressure Liquid Chromatography to identify components in a mixture of nonvolatile compounds, such as plastics

Monday and Wednesday, 5:10 – 7 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday, 3 – 4:50 p.m.
This course is open to high school juniors and seniors. You must have at least two courses in more than one area of study in biology, chemistry, physics, or physical science with a GPA of 3.0 or higher recalculated over science core subjects.
