Computer Science

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

Exciting and dynamic careers await the computer science graduate. With many mundane programming and support tasks being shipped overseas, computer science majors can concentrate on the engaging aspects of intelligent systems, autonomous robots, game development, computer security, web application development, data mining, networks, and virtual environments, just to mention a few. Students can tailor their curricula to meet their particular objectives, whether they are preparing for graduate school; careers in scientific, engineering, or business application development; or careers focusing on the design and implementation of network systems. Other degrees available are the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science, which provides rigorous preparation for higherlevel problem solving using advanced mathematical and computing tools, and the Bachelor of Science in Physics and Computer Science, in which students learn to use computers and sensor technology to creatively solve real-world problems.

Master of Science in Computer Science

Unlike more theoretical programs, Lawrence Tech offers an applied MS in Computer Science.  Students choose to complete courses in two areas of concentration selected from bioinformatics, computer graphics, computer security, database systems, distributed systems, intelligent systems, programming languages, and software engineering.  In addition, Lawrence Tech electives include object-oriented programming, theory of computation, visual tools, and Internet development.  Students also complete a two-semester capstone project under the guidance of a faculty member. This 30-credit-hour evening degree program can be completed in two years.
