| Program Description | A comprehensive Semester in Florence offers courses that satisfy a variety of undergraduate interests and needs, including architecture and arts and sciences courses, as well as an array of courses concentrating on various aspects of Italian civilization and culture, including art, music, history, literature, and politics. Field trips to museums, villages and cities are an integral part of the program and provide participants with the opportunity to see first-hand what has been discussed in the classroom. Students take classes in the Palazzo dei Cerchi, a prestigious building in the historic center of Florence, that dates from around 1280. The internal and external Palazzo was renovated in 2004. Its state-of-the-art classrooms and lecture halls are newly furnished and updated. Participants in the semester program live in apartments provided through Kent State. All apartments are fully furnished and located within the ancient city walls and within walking distance of the Palazzo. The Florence Program and the Palazzo dei Cerchi are owned and operated by Kent State University. | |
