Diversity Seminar Series
Fall 2004 Schedule
This year’s diversity focus will be the diversity of the Arab and Chaldean cultures in Metropolitan-Detroit with three of the seminars devoted to this topic.
University Seminar students must attend two Diversity Seminars and one breakout discussion. Attendance will be taken at all Seminars and Breakout Groups. Students can attend any Diversity Seminar but will need to reserve their place for the breakout discussions they plan on attending. To attend a breakout discussion, students must have attended the corresponding Seminar.
Diversity Seminar Launch – Ronald Bachman
Ronald Bachman, an advocate the disabled, will talk his experience as a disabled person. Mr. Bachman will address the prejudice and myths of our society regarding disabled persons. He will also share the remarkable and inspirational story of his life.
Chaldean Culture and History in Southeastern Michigan and the world*
A representative from the Arab and Chaldean Council will present.
A Case Study in Multicultural Organizational Challenges
Non-Asian and Vietnamese Members of the Warren Presbyterian Church.
The Antiochian Orthodox Tradition in Metro Detroit*

Discussion Groups Following Tours of the Holocaust Memorial Center
Students must attend a tour at the Holocaust Memorial Center (28123 Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills Michigan) in prior to the breakout sessions. Tours will be given exclusively for Lawrence Tech students. Regular group tours also occur; however, students are encouraged to attend the exclusive tours. Students must present proof attendance vouchers obtained from the Holocaust Memorial Center to attend the breakout session.
